The Define → Plan → Iterate workflow

The most common mistake new practitioners make is treating an AI assistant as an oracle. You ask, it answers; you ask again, it answers again. After an hour of this, you have a pile of partial outputs and no clear idea which of them you actually wanted.

The discipline that fixes this is older than AI. It is the same discipline that distinguishes a thoughtful pull request from a careless one: define the goal before you start, plan a small step, take that step, then check yourself. What changes in the AI era is the speed of the cycle — and that speed is the temptation. We will read three case studies in this lesson where treating the cycle with seriousness saved the engineer many hours.
